“Best coffee I have had in LA. Baked goods are delicious and the staff are friendly and accommodating. So glad to have Etchea right next to work.”

—Andrew J. Yelp (September 2015)

“Etchea has catered all my meetings for approximately 9 months and they do a magnificent job! Always on time and more than eager to accommodate any special requests. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the quality and freshness of their menu items. Stop by and pay a visit to Javier and Lupe...they are both amazing!”

—Odaliz R. Yelp (November 2014)

"Great little corner bakery. The staff treats you as if you're a favorite relative. The salads are very good (especially the protein salad) and the bread is amazing. Top that off with a side of fresh sliced fruit and you're good to go! I eat there once a week (cause it's healthy) and makes me feel less guilty about the other 4 days in the week. You can't go wrong with this place...It's just right."

—Ron G. Yelp (November 2014)

“Such a gem in the concrete jungle of the USC area! It's got everything: great coffee, organic and gluten free treats, yummy sandwiches, and of best of all, private free parking! Really awesome customer service too, the barista was such a sweetheart. 10% off for USC students, and 40% off on pastries after 4 PM! I will definitely be back!”

“Etchea (which means "home"), is a quaint little Basque inspired café nestled in Bunker Hill. I have tried everything from their granola, yogurt, assorted pastries, petite quiches, egg sandwiches, egg and spinach wraps, Basque soup, fresh-squeezed veggie & fruit juices, and of course, my favorite, their Basque gateau (almond cake) - it's one of a kind, tastes homemade yet it's so refined. I love it so much I have bought for birthday celebrations or intimate dinner parties - and it's always been a hit. And don't let me get you started on their fresh sourdough baguette, buns and multi-grain loaf - are addictive but oh sooo good! I have yet to try their pizzas or their array of salad options, but they seem to be popular.. Not only has Etchea become my favorite local café and bakery, but our organization also loves when we order from them for special events or meetings. Their staff, Javier and Isabel, are always very welcoming, professional and attentive. For example, I loved their poached eggs on toast which is no longer on their menu, but they made it upon request to make me happy - now that's great customer service!”

—Stephanie R., Yelp (February 2014)

“I only get coffee from here. The latte here is really good, rich, milky, never bitter, by far the best I've had. Between Starbucks and Coffee Bean this place has the best latte. The pastries look good but I just never had them, neither have I had the sandwich but the cookies are as big as your face! Check it out, good coffee.”

—Ro O., Yelp (February 2014)

“The quiche was fabulous and I had a apple spinach celery juice, I asked them to add some ginger, it was soooo yummy!”

—Maura T., Yelp (February 2014)

“This coffee is nothing short of downtown's greatest. Not lattes, I said coffee. You have to have it to believe it.”

—Aaron H., Yelp (January 2014)

“I love Etchea! Great coffee. Awesome quiches, pies, sandwiches, soups, and salads. My favorites are the basquaise salad, spinach, and cheese croissant (has this crazy hint of garlic) and incredibly moist muffins. I bought two apple tarts to share with my husband's work and the in laws and they were hits! Definitely stop by after 4p for half off pastries and great coffee!“

—Vanessa V., Yelp (December 2013)

“I just wanted to thank you for your great service. As always delivery was on time and food presentation was amazing! Etchea is definitely on my number one list for breakfast. Javier- A special thanks to you for your great customer service and making sure food is delivered on time ALWAYS.”

—Yajaira C. (November 2013)

“What makes Etchea truly a standout cafe is the quality of the in-house bread (mostly baguettes and sourdough rolls), which is truly the star player of their sandwiches, and a lovely companion to their hearty soups. The same can be said for their pastries. I'm a particular fan of the gâteau basque, an almond flour cake with a rich, flavorful filling. It also happens to be a not-so-common Basque import, and one of Etchea's most unique offerings. My other favorites are their dependable croissants and surprisingly good muffins. Grab a baguette on the way out, and you've got a delicious sandwich waiting at home (here's a tip: all bread and other pastries are half off after 4 pm!).”

—Brian H. Yelp (October 2013)

“ I have visited Etchea twice for lunch since its opening and the office has taken advantage of the half price late afternoon specials. The smoked salmon sandwich is excellent! The baguettes are amazing and bring delicious Pioneer Boulangerie memories flooding back. The brownie bites are to die for and the macaroons are solid. Great addition to downtown lunch options and very reasonably priced!”

—Stephanie E. Yelp (September 2013)

“Great pastries, great bread, great food, great space. Perfect place to meet for quiet breakfast or lunch meetings. The only café Bakery I can think of downtown L.A. which has a REAL recognized chef in the kitchen every morning. Great decor and ambience created by co-owner Christine Splichal (co-founder of Patina).”

—Rene G. Yelp (August 2013)

“A true neighborhood gem. Went for lunch today, and the folks who run the place couldn't be nicer. Same for all of the staff. Super friendly service, really clean, nice place...No hype...everything was really THAT good… Hope they stay around for a long time & expand! (To the valley!)”
